Freight Manager

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Freight Manager role based in The Woodlands Texas. The Freight Manager will help establish an in-house freight brokerage and oversee day-to-day freight operations, including recruiting, planning, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and outbound trucking. This role will manage relationships with carriers, dispatchers, drivers, and new brokerage recruits to secure capacity, negotiate rates, and ensure on-time deliveries. The Freight Manager will collaborate closely with sales and purchasing to align freight schedules with customer demand and inventory needs, while resolving any service issues or delays. Additional responsibilities include tracking freight performance metrics, managing documentation and compliance, optimizing transportation costs, and providing clear shipment updates to internal stakeholders and customers. Qualifications Strong freight management skills including experience working with carriers and logistics partners. Knowledge of flat-bed trucking, including booking, scheduling, and managing logistics operations. Hands‑on experience with logistics processes, including documentation, freight coordination, and compliance with relevant regulations. Proven Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and resolve issues promptly. Experience in steel, metals, or industrial distribution logistics is preferred. Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), Google G Suite (Gmail, Google Meet, Sheets, Slides, and Docs) and shipment tracking tools. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work on‑site in The Woodlands Texas and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
