FAQ: Your Next Lab Role in Materials Development

What is the role?
You’ll serve as a Process Development Lab Associate, producing high-quality development samples and ensuring safe, efficient operation of lab equipment.

Where is it located and how is it structured?
St. Charles, IL | $24.00/hr | 1st Shift — Monday–Thursday 7:30am–5:00pm; Friday 8:00am–12:00pm | Contract (April–September, 6 months)

What will I do day-to-day?

• Set up and operate lab extruders and related lab equipment
• Produce samples via extrusion, grinding, and spraying processes
• Create metallic lab samples with bonding mixers for bonding trials
• Formulate using standard NAFTA formulations
• Monitor quality and machine performance; report abnormalities immediately
• Disassemble, clean, and maintain equipment per lockout and clean-down procedures
• Keep the lab safe, clean, and organized
• Record and report data with basic computer systems

What background helps me succeed?

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred—Chemistry or related science
• 1+ years of experience in a lab or manufacturing environment
• Strong attention to detail; quality-first mindset
• Basic computer literacy for data entry/reporting
• Dependable attendance; able to work independently and with a team
• Safety-conscious and diligent with PPE

What gives me an edge?

• Experience in coatings, plastics, or chemical manufacturing
• Comfort with extrusion, grinding, or spraying
• SAP experience

Any must-have conditions?

• Must be available for the full April–September contract period
• Must be able to pass a 4-panel drug screen and 7-year background check
• SD rated steel toe footwear required on day one
