Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years Required License: Compact or State License Required Certifications: BLS Required, ACLS Preferred Must-Have: - Med-Surg Experience - High Acuity & Fast Paced Unit Experience - Epic Experience - Ability to float to other units as needed Description: Please ensure you are aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract to take a position, you accept these terms and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with these expectations. Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, some units may require coverage. Holiday assignments are based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation. Daily census is approximately 24 patients. The unit supports adults and geriatric patient populations. Diagnoses include cellulitis, DKA, UTI, bowel obstruction, GI bleed, wound infection, stroke, seizure, encephalopathy, pneumonia, sepsis, renal failure, falls, dehydration, and COVID. This is a high acuity and fast-paced unit. Special procedures may include laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair, TURP, TURB, and prostatectomy. Skills required include accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, feeding tube care, heparin management, and wound care. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary support. Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of Med-Surg experience and previous charge experience is preferred. Travel experience is required. References will be required to obtain clearance to start the contract. Modules are completed during orientation and are billable. Modules will be recorded via facility-specific methods. Please ensure that all documentation is current and up to date prior to submission. The facility does not accept local travelers and must be over 65 miles from the address listed. Candidates must have 2 years of experience in the specialty. Please be prepared for this opportunity.
