About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS and NIHSS preferred Description: The role requires working in a major trauma unit. Patient diagnoses include multi-trauma, seizure, gunshot wounds, falls, traumatic brain injuries, stroke, sepsis, psychiatric conditions, and encephalopathy. Neuro surgery experience is essential. Special procedures include craniotomy, spinal fusions, and orthopedic trauma surgeries. The unit has a daily census of 24 patients with a team that includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Use of special equipment such as traction, PCA pumps, chest tubes, and central lines is required. Staffing ratios on the unit typically range up to 6 patients per nurse. Flexibility is needed as floating to other units may be required based on operational needs. Candidates must be willing to work during designated holiday periods. Compliance with all infection control and isolation precautions is mandatory.
