Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Prior charge experience - Experience managing patient ratios of 5:1 - Familiarity with the Epic charting system Description: Please ensure you are aware of the following. Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team," which may require you to stay at the facility until after the event passes. You may also be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed during each emergency event, as impacts may vary. By signing your travel contract, you accept this information and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager in the event of an emergency. You should only apply for this position if you are comfortable with these expectations. Candidates must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. Although Halloween is not a paid holiday, some units may require coverage. Holiday assignments will be based on departmental needs and fair staff rotation. Patient Diagnoses may include, but are not limited to, chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, diabetes, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, hypertension, myocardial infarction, renal failure, pulmonary embolism, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, and syncope. There is always potential for medical-surgical overflow, including GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, and COVID-positive patients. Special procedures may involve pre/post cath lab, PPM/AICD, ablations post-op CABG, post-op thoracotomy, and various vascular surgeries. Titration of drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, and heparin may be required. Sheath pulling at the bedside is also part of the duties. You will work in a setting with telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, and wound vacs. The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration, including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and transport. Skills required for this position include: - Accessing and managing ports - CPAP/BiPAP management - Blood product administration - Cardiac telemetry - Central line care and management - Feeding tube care and management - Heparin protocols - Management of dysrhythmias - Starting and maintaining IVs - Telemetry monitoring Additional requirements include the possibility of being pulled to other inpatient units and an inability to guarantee specific scheduling requests. Every effort will be made to maintain a stable staffing environment, but flexibility will be necessary.
