The Pocket is a 170-seat jazz club, full bar, and restaurant opening June 2026 in Times Square. Operating with a two-show nightly format, we exist to support and grow the jazz community by welcoming listeners into the New York jazz scene. Our mission is to delight guests through unparalleled dining and listening experiences that are captivating, warm, unique, and memorable. We plan to expand into weekend brunch and late-night programming in the future.
The Pocket's culinary leadership team brings a pedigree built across some of New York's most celebrated kitchens . The team's background includes Telepan, a one-Michelin-star restaurant recognized with two New York Times stars and James Beard Award honors; Del Posto, which earned a rare four-star review from the New York Times, held a Michelin star, and was a AAA Five Diamond and Relais & Châteaux property; Mel's Pizzeria, which earned a New York Times review under the team's direction; Boulud Sud, Daniel Boulud's acclaimed Mediterranean restaurant; and Tao Group Hospitality, one of the world's leading premium hospitality companies. We provide a positive work environment, excellent training, and mentorship from a leadership team focused on growing your career alongside the business.The Line Cook is responsible for executing dishes at an assigned station with precision, speed, and consistency across two shows nightly. This position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute dishes on assigned stations during service
- Prep ingredients following recipes and portions
- Maintain station cleanliness and organization
- Communicate with team on order timing
- Support other stations as needed
- Follow food safety protocols
- Rotate stock (FIFO)
- Assist with inventory counts
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-2 years line cooking experience (fine dining preferred)
- Knife skills and cooking technique proficiency
- Ability to work quickly under pressure
- Physical ability to stand 6+ hours and lift 50 lbs
- Evening, weekend, and late-night availability
- NYC Food Handler's Certificate
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Hourly wage: $20-25/hour, depending on experience
- Overtime opportunities
- State applicable time off
- Dining Benefit: 50% discount on all food and beverage at The Pocket
- Show Tickets: Complimentary tickets to performances, subject to availability (not available for sold-out shows)
