Per Scholas is seeking a Major Gifts Officer, Northeast, an energetic and strategic accelerator of major gifts, to identify, cultivate, and secure five- and six-figure contributions by deepening relationships with donors across key Northeast markets. This is a new role, geographically based, to focus on growing commitments from donors and prospects through regular, high-touch engagement, including donor meetings, campus visits, and small-group events. The Major Gifts Officer will play a critical role in leveraging Per Scholas’ 2030 strategic plan to inspire increased philanthropic investment. With a primary focus on New York City, the tri-state area, and Greater Boston, this role partners closely with local and national stakeholders to advance strong moves management practices and build a sustainable base of major and leadership giving along the Northeast corridor. This is an emerging and evolving program, and the Major Gifts Officer will have meaningful influence in shaping strategy, systems, and best practices while driving near-term fundraising results. The role is well-suited for a fundraiser energized by building, testing, and refining approaches in real time.WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead and orchestrate the solicitation of major gifts in the $10,000–$99,999 range, with an explicit focus on upgrading donors and strengthening the leadership giving pipeline across Northeast markets. In close collaboration with the Senior Director of Major and Leadership Gifts, steward a portfolio of 80+ current donors while identifying, qualifying, and cultivating 30+ new prospects with the capacity to make gifts of $10,000 or more in the Northeast. Contribute to the design and refinement of a major gifts program, helping to establish strategy, processes, and best practices while advancing immediate fundraising outcomes. Advance a disciplined moves management system to deepen engagement and unlock the full potential of an established Northeast donor base, ensuring consistent progression, portfolio accountability, and data-driven tracking of activity and results Partner closely with regionally based development and program teams to engage donors through localized cultivation and stewardship experiences, including campus visits and market-specific events. Represent Per Scholas at programmatic and fundraising activities throughout the Northeast; regional travel and occasional evening or weekend work will be required. Support donors beyond the Northeast region, as new markets are defined or opportunities arise.WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US:
Professional Requirements Minimum of 5 years of sophisticated major gifts experience, with a proven track record of building pipelines, and closing five- and six-figure gifts. Demonstrated success building and sustaining long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals and recurring donors. Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape in the Northeast, particularly New York City, the tri-state area, and Greater Boston. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging senior executives, board members, and institutional leaders. Ability to translate complex programmatic and outcome data into compelling, donor-centered cases for support. Self-directed, strategic thinker with a proven ability to work independently while achieving ambitious fundraising goals. Experience partnering with senior leadership, board members, and cross-functional teams to advance donor relationships. Proficiency with donor and prospect management systems, including Salesforce and iWave (Kindsight). Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of schedule; work occasional evenings or weekends as needed. For this role specifically, the salary range is between $105,000/year and $115,000/year, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including geography in which the selected candidate resides, and alignment with qualifications and experience. Holidays & PTO: Full-Time Per Scholas team members enjoy over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time! All employees are eligible for Holiday pay upon hire (a total of 22 holidays annually, including a week off for Independence day and a week before the New Year ). Full-Time Benefits Eligible employees also receive 80 Wellness Hours to use for Sick, Safe, or Personal reasons and accrue Vacation at a rate of 8 hours at the beginning of every month, supporting rest, recharge, and work-life balance. Vacation accruals increase with tenure. Part-time employees are afforded time off on a prorated basis and in accordance with local requirements. Comprehensive Medical Coverage : Benefit eligible employees can choose from multiple medical plans through Cigna or Kaiser Permanente (where available), with options to fit your needs. Eligible employees also have access to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) that reimburses eligible out-of-pocket expenses, up to $4,000 for individuals and $8,000 for families. Dental and Vision Insurance : Eligible employees can select from two dental plan options and a vision plan. Employees who waive medical coverage receive employer paid dental and vision premiums. Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%, eligible employees are offered entry and full vesting after 90 days with the company. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) : Free, confidential, 24/7 access to counseling, legal support, and financial resources for employees and their household members Parental Leave: Eligible employees are offered up to 6 weeks of 100% paid parental leave to support employees as they welcome a new child and bond with their family.
