What You'll Do

• Design and develop backend services that power geospatial processing, automation, and user-facing applications
• Build APIs, middleware, proxies, and integration services using Python, Node.js, and Java
• Extend and support enterprise geospatial platforms in containerized environments
• Develop geoprocessing services, automation workflows, and operational tools
• Create data ingestion pipelines and integrations across diverse enterprise systems
• Support deployments in cloud-native and on-premises environments
• Improve system reliability, scalability, performance, and observability
• Partner with engineering, DevOps, and GIS teams to deliver production-ready solutions
• Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience developing backend applications using Python, JavaScript/Node.js, and Java
• Experience designing and building REST APIs and service-oriented architectures
• Experience integrating with enterprise geospatial platforms or GIS technologies
• Familiarity with geoprocessing workflows, automation, middleware services, or large-scale data processing
• Experience working in containerized environments such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, debugging, and system design
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related STEM field
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Active Top Secret security clearance, or previously active within the past two years, with eligibility for SCI access

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Mathematics, Engineering, or related STEM field
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern container orchestration
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and secure software development
• Experience building geospatial services, data pipelines, or mapping applications
• Knowledge of enterprise authentication, secure service architectures, and proxy technologies
• Experience with PostgreSQL, PostGIS, SQL Server, or other relational/spatial databases
• Exposure to event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and batch processing frameworks
• Relevant industry certifications such as Security+ or GIS-related certifications

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of St. Louis, MO.

The pay range for this position is $97000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
