Reports significant deviations to the manager. Documents corrective action.* Organizes work to maximize productivity and efficiency.* Determines specimen acceptability and priority, taking action accordingly.* Orders and maintains an appropriate inventory of reagents and supplies to ensure adequate patient care and minimize costs.* Recognize and take corrective action when equipment failure occurs.* Oversees proficiency testing. Ensures that testing is rotated among staff, results are submitted on time, flagged items are investigated and corrective action documented.* Orients new employees to the laboratory, conduct inservices, assesses competency of staff and annual safety training.* Assumes responsibility for adequate staffing.
