Accounting Manager

Join a large, fast-paced financial services organization as an Accounting Manager supporting a high-volume shared services environment. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys developing teams, driving process improvements, and remaining hands-on in the day-to-day accounting operations.

The Accounting Manager will oversee a team responsible for core accounting functions while partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will bring a balance of strong people leadership, technical accounting expertise, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to solve problems and support critical business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals within a shared services environment.
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Drive process improvements, standardization efforts, and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability.
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Support audits, regulatory reporting, and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
• Partner with finance, operations, treasury, and other business units to resolve complex accounting issues.
• Assist with special projects, system implementations, acquisitions, and process transformation initiatives.
• Serve as a hands-on contributor during peak close periods and high-priority projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience.
• Experience managing teams in a shared services, centralized accounting, financial services, or large corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
• Experience in financial services, banking, lending, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
• Background supporting large transaction volumes and complex accounting operations.
• Exposure to system implementations, process automation, or business transformation initiatives.
