Human Resource Officer

Job Description: RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is a critical element in the performance of Human Resource initiatives and will provide support on a variety of human resource day-to-day operations, specifically in regard to Recruitment and Selection, Classification and Compensation and transactions for the University administrative, civil service and faculty positions. The incumbent will formulate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the university. Duties includes providing consultative services about the unit level operations, their personnel needs, talent development and acquisition and organizational structures. Additional duties include drafting job announcements, posting vacancies, screening and scoring applications, entering newly hired and rehired employees in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), processing employment changes including salary, promotions, transfers, and supervisory etc. Participate in career fairs to promote employment opportunities; create and print recruitment materials (flyers, handouts, etc.) to support recruitment initiatives. Ensure compliance with State and departmental policy and procedures; ensure alignment with university brand and accessibility standards. Other duties as assigned. 2. Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories: A. course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: *30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) *Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) *90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) *Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) B. progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). The degree must be conferred at the time of application.

- Knowledge of standard principles and procedures used in human resource and ability to apply those used in complex technical operations in human resource.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and/or regulations related to public human resource administration;
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, statistics, and their applications;
- Skill in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data;
- Skill in working with managers, staff, and the public.
