Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiology Duration: Seasonal Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience License: NYS RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred, or Associate degree in Nursing with relevant experience. - 2 years current medical/surgical with telemetry experience. - EKG Course completion. - Epic experience highly preferred. Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe and competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. This role involves delivering patient care through the application of the nursing process based on evidence-based practice and approved nursing standards. The Clinical Nurse assesses and evaluates patient care needs while applying critical thinking skills in patient care management. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development and evaluation of the plan of care is essential. The position requires prioritization of all aspects of patient care, including teaching and planning after hospital care. Effective communication with patients, families, and all members of the care team is a critical component of this role. The Clinical Nurse will manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model and allocate material resources effectively. The Clinical Nurse will role model the principles of Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions. Consideration of the patient's values, preferences, and cultural diversity is important in all aspects of care. Establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and families is essential. Service recovery for patients with concerns must be initiated, and effective teamwork is encouraged. The Clinical Nurse practices safe and efficient patient-centered care by identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement. Clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in the patient population served must be demonstrated. Implementation of process improvement strategies based on evidence is part of this role. Collaboration with teams to implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies is expected. Contribution to quality and safety practices, along with compliance measures, is important. The Clinical Nurse will escalate potential safety hazards as necessary and utilize institutional technology for documentation. Coordination of supply utilization and inventory management will also be part of the duties. Patient throughput on shifts must be facilitated effectively. Professional development is encouraged, with opportunities for learning and innovation. Ethical principles should be incorporated into decision-making for patient and family care. The Clinical Nurse is expected to participate in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives. Compassion, empathy, and a professional image are integral to interactions with colleagues and patients.
