4-H Afterschool Program Educator - Indian River Intermediate School - Philadelphia, NY

Job Overview This position will serve as an Afterschool Program Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County in support of the 4-H Afterschool Program. The educator will provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades K‑12 across multiple school districts. Beaver River Central School District Belleville Henderson Central School District Carthage Central School District Copenhagen Central School District Indian River Central School District LaFargeville Central School District Watertown City School District Assigned to provide guidance, direction, and instruction using established 4‑H curriculum in areas such as environmental science, natural resources, science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). Position Details Part‑time, non‑exempt position. 20 hours per week at $20.00 per hour. Required Qualifications Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED or High School Diploma plus 1 year transferable program experience). Relevant experience to the role. Valid New York State driver’s license and ability to meet travel requirements. Ability to meet School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements (e.g., tuberculosis test, physical exam, training). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with subject matter appropriate to 4‑H youth development. Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and dependability. Ability to organize, implement, and teach informal educational programs. Effective oral, written and visual communication skills. Proficiency with computer technologies for educational and communication purposes. Ability to participate in professional team efforts. Responsibilities / Essential Functions Program Delivery (85%): Utilize established program resources and materials; teach existing educational programs in STEAM; assist the After‑School Program Coordinator with lesson plan creation and instruction of innovative programs; support teachers during the academic study portion; coordinate with school personnel; provide staffing or coverage for other after‑school programs; collaborate with Association staff to achieve program goals. Program Evaluation (5%): Implement evaluation as designed by the Outside Evaluator and NYSED; collect evaluation data from participants; interpret data and communicate results. Coordination / Operation (5%): Coordinate and assist with program projects and outreach; organize resources; provide marketing and promotion support across media; assist with reports required by funding sources; communicate with parents and maintain professional relationships with agencies and businesses. Professional Improvement & Other Duties (5%): Participate in required SACC/OCFS trainings; develop professional development plan with supervisor; attend staff meetings; report expenses; assist with general marketing and other duties as assigned.
