Major duties/responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Clinical assessment is comprehensive (i.e., includes mandatory elements) and timely (i.e., meets specific timeframe and local requirements established in medical bylaws).
• Treatment plan is evidence-based (e.g., VA/DoD guidelines or other approved practice standards) and reflects shared decision-making between the practitioner and the Veteran.
• If indicated by policy, informed consent is completed and signed prior to a procedure or treatment, and the practitioner identified and discussed risks, benefits, and potential complications.
• Timely, appropriate, and guideline concordant (if applicable) empiric antimicrobial selection.
• Counseling on tobacco cessation prior to discharge.
• Provide supervision to medical resident physicians overnight.
• Cross cover non-ICU surgical patients overnight for medicine related issues.
• Closed ICU

Work Schedule: Full Time. Nights vary, 7p-7a Work Location: This job opportunity announcement includes positions at the Providence VA Medical Center located in Providence, RI.
