JOB SUMMARY The Automotive Electrical Technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical systems in OEM vehicles at an automotive manufacturing facility. This role involves troubleshooting electrical circuit faults, repairing or replacing wiring and electrical components to OEM standards, and supporting vehicle assembly operations. The technician will also mentor and guide repair personnel, perform root cause analysis on vehicle deficiencies, and ensure high-quality electrical system repairs while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Key Responsibilities Diagnose automotive electrical system issues and determine appropriate repair actions. Repair or replace faulty wiring, connectors, and electrical components to OEM standards. Install new vehicle wiring systems and perform electrical system repairs on new OEM vehicles. Troubleshoot and repair immobilizer and alarm systems. Service and maintain electrical automotive components and diagnostic equipment. Provide repair support or mentoring at OEM vehicle assembly facilities across rotating shifts. Estimate repair timelines and communicate updates to on-site leadership. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Complete job reports and process required repair documentation. Mentor and coach repair personnel on diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems. Demonstrate effective diagnostic methods and troubleshooting techniques. Conduct root cause analysis to identify causes of vehicle electrical deficiencies. Act as a Subject Matter Expert on vehicle electrical architectures and schematics. Communicate lessons learned and technical insights to site leadership and team members. Travel to other U.S. facilities as needed to support repair operations. Required Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience as an automotive electrical repair technician. Advanced knowledge of modern vehicle electrical systems. Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues using diagnostic tools. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters and OEM scan tools. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in confined vehicle spaces and maintain prolonged standing or crouching positions. Ability to distinguish subtle color variations for wiring identification. Strong communication skills and ability to mentor other technicians. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to obtain a security clearance. Willingness to work rotating shifts including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Preferred Qualifications ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications. Experience as a shop foreman or lead technician. Experience developing automotive electrical schematics. Experience working with Automotive Technical Assistance Centers. Certifications ASE Certifications preferred. Education: High School
