Job Summary:

The Pharmacist Inpatient role involves providing expert pharmaceutical care within a hospital setting, specifically a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. The pharmacist will ensure safe and effective medication use, support clinical teams, and manage medication distribution. This position requires hospital experience with pediatric exposure and includes a night shift schedule with a planned transition to day shift coverage for a pharmacist on FMLA. The role demands strong clinical knowledge, collaboration skills, and adherence to hospital protocols.

Responsibilities:

Provide pharmaceutical care and medication management to inpatients in a pediatric hospital setting.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
Review and verify medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
Monitor patient responses to medications and adjust therapy as necessary.
Participate in medication reconciliation and clinical rounds as required.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding medication use.
Support pharmacy operations during assigned shifts, including inventory management and documentation.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Texas Pharmacist license.
Hospital pharmacy experience with exposure to pediatric patients is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of inpatient pharmacy operations and medication management.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with clinical pharmacy services in a pediatric or hospital setting.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience covering multiple units or floating between units.
Familiarity with pediatric trauma center protocols and medication requirements.
Previous experience covering shifts for pharmacists on leave (e.g., FMLA).

Special Considerations:

Shift schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off.
Initial shift is night shift from 20:00 to 06:30.
Transition to day shift coverage planned for July/August to cover pharmacist on FMLA through 01/13/2027.
No on-call duties required.
Weekend work required every other weekend.
Block schedules are required.
Hospital experience is a strict requirement; retail-only experience is not acceptable.

Scheduling:

Work schedule consists of 7 consecutive days on followed by 7 consecutive days off.
Night shift hours: 20:00 to 06:30 during initial period.
Later transition to day shift to cover FMLA absence.
Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
