Pharmacist - Oncology contract $100/HR

Pharmacist Oncology Contract

Interprets, compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, using standard physical and chemical procedures to fill written prescriptions issued by physicians, and other qualified prescribers. Enters drug orders into computer profile.

Responsibilities include: interpreting and entering drug orders and patient data into computer profile; selecting, preparing, and dispensing drug products to fill inpatient and outpatient prescriptions; labeling drug products as per procedure; dispensing employee prescriptions, initiating profile system, and providing drug information; interacting with health care personnel to provide information on drug action or delivery of various medications; providing compatibility information for IV administration of various drugs; screening for drug allergy and drug interactions; noting drugs or classes of drugs contraindicated in specific disease states; conducting pre-admission and discharge patient medication interviews upon request; reviewing patient charts and nursing medication-charting documents for accuracy and completeness to maintain accurate patient profile; ensuring drugs are reordered as per hospital policy and procedure; maintaining records and inventory of investigation drugs, controlled substances, and methadone; maintaining records of transactions and delivery; manufacturing, preparing, and labeling compound and solutions, and other sterile products; performing related duties, as required.

Required experience and qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy including internship, and a current license to practice Pharmacy in New York State. Minimum of one (1) year related experience to ensure familiarity with oncology pharmacy practice is preferred.
