Senior Accounting Manager – Global Industrial Company | Chicago

A large, publicly traded organization in the manufacturing sector is looking to add a Senior Accounting Manager to its corporate accounting team!

\n

\n

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting leader who enjoys combining technical accounting, operational finance, and process improvement. This individual will oversee project and asset accounting, lead a team, and play a key role in strengthening financial controls, reporting accuracy, and automation initiatives.

\n

\n

Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Oversee capital project accounting, including CapEx/OpEx tracking and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
\n
• Manage fixed and intangible asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, impairments, and disposals.
\n
• Lead lease accounting under ASC 842.
\n
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and strengthen internal controls.
\n
• Drive process improvements, reporting automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
\n
• Leverage data analytics tools to improve reporting and provide actionable financial insights.
\n
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, and senior leadership.
\n
• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
\n
• Active CPA required.
\n
• 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
\n
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, fixed assets, capital project accounting, and ASC 842.
\n
• Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls.
\n
• Experience with reporting automation and analytics tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, or Python.
\n
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
\n
• Public company experience strongly preferred.
