Position Overview

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for leading electrical construction and infrastructure projects from preconstruction through final completion. This role oversees project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, field operations, and client communication while ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Projects may include municipal water and wastewater facilities, pump and lift stations, transportation infrastructure, airports, street lighting, traffic signal systems, electric vehicle charging stations, underground utilities, government facilities, industrial sites, and other public works projects. The ideal candidate has strong electrical construction experience and is comfortable managing technically complex projects involving multiple agencies, trades, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, cost forecasts, schedules, and procurement plans.
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to identify scope requirements and project risks.
• Coordinate with owners, public agencies, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
• Lead subcontractor procurement, scope reviews, contract negotiations, and buyout activities.
• Coordinate electrical equipment and material procurement, including long-lead items.
• Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to maintain project schedules, productivity, quality, and safety.
• Monitor labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor costs, billing, and overall project profitability.
• Lead project meetings and provide accurate progress updates to clients and internal leadership.
• Coordinate permitting, utility requirements, inspections, testing, startup, and commissioning activities.
• Identify potential design conflicts, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts before they affect project performance.
• Ensure electrical work complies with contract documents, applicable codes, agency standards, and quality requirements.
• Manage project turnover, punch list completion, as-built documentation, training, warranties, and final closeout.
• Maintain strong client relationships and support opportunities for future project work.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of experience managing electrical construction projects.
• Strong experience working for an electrical contractor or general contractor overseeing electrical scopes.
• Experience with public works, municipal infrastructure, industrial, transportation, airport, utility, or government projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, sequencing, procurement, and field operations.
• Knowledge of power distribution, underground electrical systems, controls, lighting, communications, and related infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, one-line diagrams, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
• Experience managing project budgets, job costs, change orders, billing, forecasting, and profitability.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and material procurement.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Electrical trade experience or prior field leadership experience is highly desirable.
• Experience managing municipal water and wastewater, pump station, street lighting, traffic signal, EV charging, airport, or underground utility projects.
• Familiarity with public contracting, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and agency documentation requirements.
• Experience with design-build, prime contracting, and electrical subcontracting delivery models.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and applicable state and local electrical requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.
