Position Summary


This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) BA 375 Teaching Assistant for the School of Marketing, Design, and Analytics at Oregon State University (OSU).


The Teaching Assistant (TA) for BA 375 will provide instructional and administrative support to the course instructor, contributing directly to student success and smooth course operations. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong grasp of the course material, and a commitment to maintaining academic integrity. This position requires a high level of organization, reliability, and the ability to manage student inquiries with professionalism and empathy.

Pay rate for this position is $16.05 per hour.

Position Duties


1. Grading & Assessment (70%)

• Grade weekly assignments, quizzes, and exams accurately and consistently in accordance with the instructor's rubrics and guidelines.
• Provide constructive, timely feedback on student work within Canvas.
• Maintain accurate grade records and flag struggling students or potential academic integrity issues to the instructor.

2. Student Support & Office Hours (15%)

• Hold 2-3 hours of regular, weekly office hours (either in-person or via Zoom) to assist students with course concepts, assignment clarifications, and exam preparation.
• Cultivate a welcoming, supportive, and structured learning environment during student consultations.

3. Course Communication & Administration (15%)

• Monitor and respond promptly to student emails regarding deadlines, course policies, and basic assignment questions (typically within 24-48 hours).
• Meet regularly with the course instructor to discuss grading calibration, student progress, and upcoming course needs.
• Assist with minor administrative tasks as requested by the instructor.

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
  • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
  • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
  • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
  • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
  • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.
