Cost Accounting Manager

Cost Accounting ManagerGowan Company, LLC has an opening for Cost Accounting Manager in Yuma, AZ. Supervise the determination of all Standard Cost elements, including bill of materials, production routings, labor, and overhead at toll and formulation sites. Ensure proper and timely recording of transactions in alignment with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and company policies in the general ledger. Oversee the annual cost roll at fiscal year-end and ensure proper inventory valuation is booked in the system. Adjust Standard Costs as necessary to maintain accurate gross margins. Monitor slow-moving inventory and ensure timely financial impact assessments. Maintain compliance with internal control standards and GAAP for cost accounting records. Review and approve account reconciliations related to Cost & Inventory accounts for general ledger integrity. Participate in annual financial audits by providing relevant financial information and schedules as required. Plan, organize, and direct all cost accounting activities, including inventory transactions, purchase price variances, and production variances. Lead the preparation and coordination of budget reports and management cost uploads. Collaborate with IT, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment across functions. Identify areas of inefficiency and lead projects to streamline financial reporting and data collection processes. Support the quarterly reporting process and coordinate meetings with the Supply Chain teams to review standard variances against budgets. Provide support for cost accounting forecasting, including gross margin projections and inventory turns. Review shared cost accounting email and SharePoint. Partner with IT to support Master Data Management. Must have Bachelor's or foreign degree equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related and 60 months of experience in Cost Accounting or related, including 60 months of experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), financial analysis, and reporting principles; 60 months of experience with budgeting, general ledger, and trend analysis; 60 months of experience with business intelligence tools (such as Cognos Analytics) and electronic accounting systems (such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1)); and 24 months of experience with supervising and/or managing junior team members. Supervises three (3) Cost Accountants. Travel required 12% of the time to the United Kingdom and Italy.
