Technical Sales – Industrial Equipment (Inside Sales)

High‑Growth Role | Engineered Systems | Capital Equipment | No Degree Required I Application Sales Engineer

Join a fast‑paced, customer‑centric technical sales team supporting engineered industrial equipment, across processing, manufacturing, water treatment, Food & Beverage environments. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical professional who thrives at the intersection of customer support , industrial technology , and solution‑based selling . You’ll partner directly with field sales, engage with end users, and help drive growth across a high‑mix, high‑value product portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Sales Support — Serve as the primary technical resource for Sales Representatives, delivering expert guidance on engineered systems and capital equipment. Focus ~98% on expanding and supporting existing accounts, with ~2% on new business development.
• Training & Enablement — Deliver product, application, and systems training to Sales Representatives to strengthen their technical confidence and selling effectiveness.
• Customer Engagement — Interface directly with customers to understand process requirements, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend equipment solutions that align with operational goals.
• Competitive Intelligence — Maintain strong awareness of competitive technologies, market trends, and industry benchmarks to position our solutions effectively.
• Project Qualification — Support evaluation of project feasibility from both technical and commercial standpoints.
• Order Management Support — Assist Sales Representatives with follow‑ups, quoting, and closing activities to ensure seamless order execution.
• Specialty Equipment Requests — Review customer documentation for custom or specialty equipment needs; collaborate with the sales team to determine appropriate responses.
• Proposal Review — Validate and approve proposals prepared by field sales before submission to customers.
• Customer Visits — Conduct on‑site or in‑office meetings with prospective customers to strengthen relationships and support solution development.
• Sales & Marketing Activities — Participate in trade shows, customer seminars, product demos, and other promotional events; assist with booth setup and teardown.
• Team Collaboration — Work closely with the Sales Manager and broader team to support strategic initiatives and promotional campaigns.

Requirements

• Technical Aptitude — Strong mechanical/electrical problem‑solving skills; ability to understand engineered systems and industrial processes. CRM experience is a plus.
• Industry Experience — Background with manufactured electro‑mechanical capital equipment; Food & Beverage processing experience preferred but not required.
• Communication Skills — Excellent interpersonal, written, and customer‑facing communication abilities.
• Education — ME/EE/CE degree is helpful but not required; equivalent hands‑on experience is fully acceptable.
• Sales Experience — Proven success selling technical or engineered products; experience in processing, automation, or industrial equipment environments is a plus.
• Business Acumen — Strong understanding of commercial principles and professional customer interaction.
• Physical Requirements — Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, balance, stand, and walk for extended periods; comfortable working in varied environmental conditions (temperature, weather, noise).
• Travel — Occasional travel required (2–5%).
