Job Summary Plans, designs and constructs manufacturing facilities and related structures | Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources and structural design | Resolves technical problems and recommends production improvements Impact of the Role General ProfileRequires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines Solves complex problems Works independently, receives minimal guidanceMay lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experienceConsistent exercise of discretion & judgment Essential Functions Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. Confers with vendors in order to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts. Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards. Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experienceDiscipline/Major: Engineering degree requiredCritical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's DegreeKnowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.This position is Safety-Sensitive.
