Responsibilities

Responsible for coordinating and providing individualized case management, group therapy and bio-psychosocial assessment services including group and counseling for clients within the facility. The Counselor-Intern will demonstrate expertise in case management, development of client resources, vocational counseling, discharge/continuing care planning, and placement of clients. The Counselor-Intern has the primary responsibility of maintaining communication with the referral source and other service providers as needed, as well as act as a liaison with the UR Department on all aspects of client care. In conjunction with working towards CADC certification Counselor-Intern is required to attend weekly 1:1 supervision. American Addiction Centers strives to ensure that all of our clients receive the most comprehensive care to address the issues that may impede their recovery.

Qualifications

Studying for Drug & Alcohol counseling certification from an accredited institution. Two years' experience working in a substance abuse environment preferred. Ability to work effectively with people and aid them in adjusting to their specific problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, family members, and other members of staff. Knowledge and experiences in running groups, meetings and/or activities. Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Products.
