The Biomedical Technician III, Clinical Engineering works under limited supervision to provide advanced technical maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for complex biomedical systems critical to patient care and research. Preferred candidates demonstrate experience in medical device life cycle management, asset reliability, customer service, and operational coordination, along with strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety.Minimum $39.66 – Midpoint $49.52 – Maximum $59.38 per hour based on a 40-hour work week. The Biomedical Technician III, Clinical Engineering position offers meaningful technical work, collaboration with clinical experts, and opportunities for professional growth within a nationally recognized healthcare institution while supporting long-term career stability and work-life balance.Responsibilities:Install, inspect, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical, surgical, and research equipmentReceive, assemble, and inspect new equipment to ensure proper operation and complianceTroubleshoot, inspect, repair, and modify electronic, electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipmentCommunicate with clinical clients to diagnose and resolve equipment issuesEnsure equipment compliance with manufacturer specifications and institutional standardsConduct and document performance assurance testing, analyze results, and determine equipment safety and accuracyProvide in-service training to nursing and clinical staff on equipment operation and troubleshootingCoordinate equipment repairs with external vendors and internal clients as requiredDocument all equipment modifications and maintenance in accordance with standard operating proceduresAssist with service contracts, pre-purchase evaluations, incident investigations, and project management activitiesPerform other duties as assignedEducation:Required: Associate's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.Work Experience:Required: 4 years Biomedical Technology experience. orRequired: 2 years Experience required with preferred degree.May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.Preferred: Experience in medical device life cycle management, specialized medical device support - maintenance and support for Beds, Stretchers, Dialysis, and equipment within SPD (Sterile Processing Department) environment, asset reliability, customer service, and operation coordination skills.The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center offers excellent benefits, including medical, dental, paid time off, retirement, tuition benefits, educational opportunities, and individual and team recognition.
