Assistant General Counsel - Property Development

Position Summary

The Assistant General Counsel strengthens Life Time by providing legal support to help clients advance their business goals and objectives while mitigating legal risk, including cross‑functional contribution to business initiatives.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Provides advice and counsel to internal clients.
• Drafts and negotiates letters of intent, leases, purchase agreements, amendments, declarations, easements, correspondence relating to real estate transactions and other real estate documentation.
• Reviews title and survey and due diligence.

Position Requirements

• Four‑year undergraduate degree.
• J.D. from an accredited law school, with strong academic credentials.
• 10+ years of experience in commercial retail/office real estate leasing, acquisition, disposition and development.
• Extensive experience leasing, drafting and negotiating retail and office leases, subleases, amendments, and termination agreements is critical.
• Extensive experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating real‑estate development/acquisition or disposition documentation.
• Excellent academic and law firm/in‑house credentials.
• An innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives.
• A high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgment.
• Experience spearheading and managing multiple real estate and development transactions with little required oversight in a fast‑paced, high‑growth company. Prefer significant experience on tenant side of leasing transactions.
• Assist real estate and development team with in‑depth due diligence in real estate deals, including evaluation of existing property special assessments, use restrictions, and zoning issues.
• A passion for providing unparalleled client service.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in a dynamic in‑house environment.
• Experience with multi‑state residential landlord/tenant law and property management.

Pay

This is a salaried position starting at $151,000.00 (or applicable minimum salary, if higher) and pays up to $219,000.00, based on experience and qualifications.
