Pacific Staffing is recruiting a Senior EHS Specialist for a respected Sacramento based organization committed to employee safety, environmental stewardship, and strong emergency preparedness. This role is ideal for an experienced EHS professional who excels at assessing risk, developing standards, leading cross-functional initiatives, and driving continuous improvement across safety programs. The Senior EHS Specialist independently leads key environmental health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role assesses risks, develops policies, conducts investigations, and partners closely with operations, facilities, research, and leadership teams to strengthen safety culture and reduce organizational risk. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, clear communication skills, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs and standards across the organization.
• Lead regulatory inspections, audits, and corrective action planning.
• Interpret regulations and emerging requirements; advise leadership on compliance strategies.
• Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root-cause analyses.
• Analyze trends across audits, incidents, and training data to identify systemic risks.
• Design and deliver employee safety training; mentor junior EHS staff.
• Serve as an emergency responder for hazardous materials, confined space, and fire/smoke events.
• Lead cross-functional EHS initiatives and support budgeting and procurement of EHS resources.
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external regulatory agencies.
• Serve as a delegate for EHS leadership when needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field (Master's preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive EHS experience; 7+ years preferred.
• Professional EHS certifications (CSP, ASP/GSP, CIH, CHMM) strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead complex investigations, audits, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Proficiency with EHS systems, databases, and standard office software.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and participate in specialized response teams.
• Valid driver's license required.
