The role involves working directly with clients to ensure every project meets exceptional quality standards. You will gain expertise in areas such as NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards. Travel: This position has remote‑working capabilities, but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of Allentown, PA. Selected candidates will be expected to attend in‑person meetings and assignments on an as‑needed basis throughout Pennsylvania. What You Can Expect Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, and Make‑Ready using customer GIS and WMS systems such as EFD, AUD, Smallworld, ArcGIS, Infor, EAM, STORMS, and Maximo Manage scope, schedule, and budget of work assigned Conduct functional tasks, planning, and customer follow‑up Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to advocate client priorities Initiate continuous improvement to workflow processes that drive efficiency and high‑quality standards Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, including work permit development, easements, and ROW applications Be comfortable in both field and office settings; may require local or regional customer‑site visits to collect field data Background Requirements 8+ years of prior relevant experience in electric utility design engineering or consulting Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET‑accredited institution; additional relevant experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree Proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Experience in structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and electric demand and fault current calculations Reliable transportation; some local or regional customer travel is anticipated (travel reimbursed at IRS‑approved rates) Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Additional Experience Providing estimated costs, developing a BOM, and calculating the CIAC Using design tools such as Pole Foreman, Pull Planner, and Katapult Experience with work management and job estimating software CAD or MicroStation for electrical distribution design Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for design projects High‑level organization and project management skills Ability to train entry‑level resources and create process documentation Professional Attributes Collaborative attitude and inclusivity of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations Ability to work with limited supervision Positive attitude Professional dress and demeanor Pay Range: $89,700.00 – $162,150.00. Compensation is based on responsibilities, education, experience, and market data.
