Onward 18-21 Job Coach (2026-2027)

Piper USD 203 has an opening for a Job Coach for its 18-21 Onward program for the 2026-2027 school year. Starting wage: $18.60/hour with increases based on education and experience. All interested and qualified candidates are asked to apply as soon as possible. The position is open until filled. Qualifications High school diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record in order to utilize district transportation to transport students to job sites and community outings. Knowledge of job development and employment strategies for individuals with disabilities. Understanding of legal requirements and best practices related to special education and vocational training. Familiarity with assistive technologies and accommodations that support individuals with disabilities in the workplace. Job Goal The Special Education Job Coach assists in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students under the supervision of a certified teacher; observes and documents student progress; implements plans for instruction; and assists students by providing for special health care needs. In addition, this role supports students at various vocational and job sites to complete job functions that will enable students to complete goals towards independent living. Essential Job Functions Adapts vocational skills for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all special education students performing at different learning levels and/or with different functional limitations to participate in programs and prepare for levels of independent living. Adapts life skills (e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc.) for the purpose of providing an opportunity for all special education students performing at different learning levels and/or with different functional limitations to participate in programs and prepare for levels of independent living. Administers first aid, daily living care, mental health support, medical and non-medical assistance (e.g. diapering, tube feeding, medication, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate care and/or developing student's daily living activities and behavioral skills. Assists students in practicing job skills (e.g. cleaning, folding towels, constructing pizza boxes, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing job skills. Collaborates with staff for the purpose of providing necessary support and information in evaluating student progress and/or implementing IEP objectives. Develops natural supports at the job site for the purpose of helping students be as independent as possible. Monitors special education student(s) (e.g. job sites, field trips, transportation, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment. Participates in meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. first aid, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions to meet established annual state requirements. Provides off-site learning and leisure trips (e.g. visits to mall, grocery shopping, etc.) for the purpose of preparing students for independent living. Provides feedback and daily records on students for the purpose of communicating student's daily progress to the transition team. Supports special education students at their job sites for the purpose of helping students learn their job functions. Other duties as assigned. Complies with all district policies, rules, and regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to ambulate between job sites as needed. Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed. Ability to assist individuals with personal care needs as required. Vision and hearing abilities sufficient to perform essential job functions. Mobility to move within the school environment and to attend meetings in various locations within the school district.
