Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country. Location: IUHMG M-Pathology Lab Shift: Full Time Days The Histology Team Lead coordinates work schedules, supervises laboratory personnel, ensures appropriate record keeping, documents quality control, maintains workload records, and serves as a technical resource for staff and physicians. Produces high quality microscopic slides of tissues received in surgical pathology while maintaining patient confidentiality. Performs all necessary duties and procedures required for processing specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in diagnosing, preventing, or treating disease. Assists in researching and developing new procedures and techniques for diagnostic purposes. Maintains laboratory records as needed. Bachelor's Degree in Histology or a related field required. 5 years of histology experience within the last ten years required. Certification through ASCP (or equivalent) required. Requires ability to lead people in a multifaceted histology laboratory; must have overall skills to provide technical and leadership support. Requires proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results. Requires ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests.
