Description Champaign-Urbana Public Health District Harm Reduction Peer The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) Harm Reduction Peer Counselor for the Teen and Adult Services Division. The selected candidate will act as a liaison between people who use drugs (PWUD) and health/social services, focusing on harm reduction. The candidate will build trusting relationships with PWUD and reduce barriers to care by providing harm reduction-centered outreach, navigation, advocacy, and follow-up. The candidate must be able to support client-defined goals while promoting dignity, safety, and health. Must have interpersonal skills to build trust.
Responsibilities include:
All employees must be fully vaccinated with the most-up-to-date (September 2025 and beyond) influenza (seasonally). All other vaccinations are highly recommended but not mandatory. Vaccinations taken prior to September 2025 will not be accepted. Proof of vaccinations must be on file with Human Resources prior to start date. The recruitment will remain open until May 14, 2026. Responsibilities include:
- Serve as a liaison when working in outreach programs assisting with project goals and objectives as directed by supervisor.
- Assist with logistical needs in meeting goals and objectives of the assigned program.
- Must self-identify as having lived experience with substance use
