JOB INFORMATION
Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, invites applications for a full-time, 172-day Business faculty position. As a vibrant and innovative teaching institution, we are dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment that supports both associate degree-seeking and transfer students. This position offers the opportunity to engage with students in a range of disciplines including Business Management, Accounting, Office Administration & Technology, and Procurement . We are seeking passionate educators who thrive in diverse settings and are committed to student success through various teaching modalities including online, remote, hybrid, and in-person formats. Faculty members will be integral members of a multi-disciplinary department, contributing to curriculum development and college-wide initiatives, advising, and enhancing the academic experience for our students.
Please note that this full-time position requires regular teaching and meeting attendance on the Chemeketa Community College Salem campus, and that it is not a remote position. Further, interviews will be conducted in-person on Chemeketa's Salem Campus.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Program Responsibilities
  • Maintains timely communication with program, college departments, and supervisor
  • Stays current on program goals, processes and outcomes
  • Participates in program assessment and college accreditation
  • Attends and assists, with the Program Chair, Advisory Committee meetings
  • Communicates in a timely manner with students and department personnel
  • Provides advising to assigned and unassigned students
  • Participates in internal and external informational and promotional program activities as assigned
Instruction
  • Teaches classes as assigned, following current approved course outlines
  • Meets scheduled class times
  • Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes/labs according to program expectations
  • Provides students with class syllabi
  • Delivers course content using appropriate methods for student needs and program curriculum
  • Meets all scheduled and special classes
  • Posts and maintains office hours
  • Maintains records of grades and attendance; reports individual academic grades when required
  • Embraces appropriate technology tools to accomplish job functions; understands and utilizes available technology as communication and data gathering tools
  • Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration

-AND-

Experience teaching or training in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online
-OR-
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, Financial Management, Business Education, or a Master's degree or higher in a closely related field that includes 24 graduate-level subject area quarter credits

-AND-

Experience teaching or training in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online
Core Competencies
  • Ability to work with a diverse population

  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using a learning management system for teaching online/hybrid courses and other distance technologies
  • Experience teaching or training adults and individuals from diverse backgrounds in educational or business settings
  • Proficiency with office productivity suites and various software packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience teaching accounting courses
  • Experience teaching business management courses
  • Experience teaching office-related courses, such as Office Procedures, Office Management, Records Management, Customer Service, Desktop Publishing, Keyboarding, Business English, Proofreading and Editing
  • Possession of special licenses or certifications, such as CPA, CMA, CGFM, CIA, EA, or CFP, or experience with computerized accounting systems
  • Industry experience in procurement and supply chain management
  • Three years of relevant work experience in the accounting field, office administration, or business
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This is a 100%, 10-month faculty assignment of the F9 band and grade
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested, you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


Light Work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light work if frequent walking and/or standing is required.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
