Safety Manager

The Safety Manager will serve as the on-site safety leader, working closely with project management, subcontractors, airport representatives, and general contractors to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with OSHA and project-specific requirements. Position Summary The Safety Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the project’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) program. This individual will proactively identify risks, conduct inspections, lead training initiatives, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and client safety standards. Success in this role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with employees, subcontractors, and project stakeholders while maintaining the highest safety expectations. Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership Lead and promote a positive, proactive safety culture across the project. Serve as the primary on-site safety representative for Daifuku. Coach supervisors and craft personnel on safe work practices. Stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified. Recognize and reinforce safe work habits throughout the project. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA 1926 Construction Standards. Enforce project-specific safety requirements established by the owner and general contractor. Maintain compliance with Daifuku corporate safety policies. Ensure subcontractors follow all project safety procedures and documentation requirements. Site Inspections & Audits Conduct daily jobsite inspections. Perform routine audits of: Fall protection Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Electrical safety Scaffolding Aerial lifts Cranes and rigging PPE compliance Material storage Track corrective actions through completion. Training & Employee Development Conduct new hire safety orientations. Facilitate daily or weekly toolbox talks. Coordinate OSHA-required and project-specific safety training. Mentor supervisors and field personnel on hazard recognition and risk mitigation. Maintain all training documentation. Investigate injuries, property damage, and near-miss incidents. Perform root cause analysis. Develop and implement corrective action plans. Complete required incident reports and documentation. Monitor trends and recommend preventative improvements. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate project safety records, including: Daily safety reports Inspection reports Toolbox talk documentation Training records Safety observations Incident investigations OSHA recordkeeping (when applicable) Safety performance metrics Project Coordination Attend daily coordination meetings. Participate in owner and general contractor safety meetings. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to plan upcoming work safely. Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for high-risk activities. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience. Minimum 3 years serving as a Safety Manager or Site Safety Supervisor on commercial or industrial construction projects. Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations. CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to project start). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Preferred OSHA 500 Trainer or OSHA 510 certification. CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician). CSP (Certified Safety Professional). Experience supporting large-scale commercial, manufacturing, airport, distribution, or industrial construction projects. Experience working around conveyors, automation systems, material handling equipment, structural steel, cranes, and electrical installations. Desired Skills Strong leadership and coaching abilities. Physical Requirements Walk active construction sites for extended periods. Climb ladders, stairs, and elevated work platforms. Work in indoor and outdoor environments throughout all seasons. Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Any of Subcontractor's employees who are found to be in violation of Contractor's safety rules will be subject to immediate and permanent removal from the Project, in accordance with Article 32. In the event Subcontractor has safety issue(s) on the Project, Contractor may, in its sole discretion, require Subcontractor to furnish a full-time safety professional for the Project, at no additional cost to Contractor. This safety professional shall demonstrate full and complete understanding of the safety laws, rules and regulations applicable to Subcontractor's work on the Project and must hold a current Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification from the Board of Certified Professionals. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals can be used in lieu of the CHST certification, provided Contractor approves of such alternate certification. #J-18808-Ljbffr
