Our client is seeking a Proofer / Copy Editor to support a large scale enterprise intranet transformation initiative. This role will serve as a critical quality assurance checkpoint within the content creation and publishing process, ensuring employee-facing content is accurate, accessible, consistent, and ready for publication. This position goes beyond traditional proofreading. The ideal candidate will review content for grammar, tone, usability, formatting, accessibility, metadata accuracy, and adherence to content governance standards. They will work closely with Content Strategists, Content Operations Specialists, and project stakeholders to ensure all content meets organizational standards before publication. The ideal candidate combines exceptional attention to detail with a strong understanding of digital content, user experience principles, and editorial best practices. You Will: Review digital content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, clarity, and consistency Ensure content aligns with editorial guidelines, brand standards, and user experience best practices Identify broken links, outdated references, duplicate content, and formatting inconsistencies Validate metadata, tags, ownership fields, and other required CMS elements Perform basic accessibility reviews including heading structure, link text, image alt text, and content scannability Verify published content matches approved source content and stakeholder feedback Document defects, inconsistencies, and recommended corrections Partner with Content Operations teams to resolve publishing and content quality issues Support pre-publication and post-publication quality assurance reviews Maintain and contribute to editorial standards, QA processes, and content governance procedures You Have: 5-8 years of experience in proofreading, copy editing, content QA, communications, or digital content review Exceptional command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and plain language writing principles Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies across large content sets Experience reviewing website, intranet, knowledge base, or digital workplace content Ability to follow editorial standards, QA checklists, and content governance requirements Experience working within a CMS or digital publishing environment Familiarity with accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 AA Strong documentation and communication skills Experience reviewing metadata, tagging structures, and content publishing elements preferred Experience supporting content migrations, content refreshes, or content transformation initiatives preferred Logistics: Start Date/Duration: June 2026 through December 2026 with potential extension Hours/Week: 40 Hours/Week Onsite/Offsite: Remote considered, hybrid preferred for candidates local to Chicago Work Schedule: Standard U.S. business hours Travel: No travel required Laptop/Software Requirements: Client-provided equipment Background Check: Yes Drug Screen: Yes (Non DOT 5 Panel) Hourly Pay Rate: $30-$35/Hour DOE #J-18808-Ljbffr Artisan Talent
