Transportation Construction Inspector

Short Description Bowman has an opportunity for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team in Lincoln, NE. Purpose Perform bridge and highway inspections to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Responsibilities Perform work under moderate supervision; receive direction on moderately complex assignments. Liaise with project managers concerning pertinent findings of inspections. Perform inspections for transportation construction projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with plans, specifications and codes. Document project assignments accurately. Prepare inspection and contractor performance reports for project records. Maintain project documents and files. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum of one (1) year of DOT experience as a Technical Assistant 2 (TA‑2) or higher; or two (2) years minimum of transportation, highway, or bridge construction inspection experience; or four (4) years minimum of highway or bridge construction, non‑highway or bridge inspection, or highway or bridge design experience. NICET certification – a plus. DOT Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification – a plus. NECEPT Bituminous Field Certification – a plus. Valid state driver's license; ability to pass a motor vehicle check or reliable transportation to/from office and/or project site strongly preferred. Physical Demands & Working Environment Primarily outdoor work, may include adverse weather, varying temperatures, noise, and hazards. Mobility around a job/construction site: walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling; wearing required PPE. Primarily local travel during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be required. Occasional indoor office environment with bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, traffic. Mobility around an office environment. Frequent use of standard office equipment. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs; pushing or pulling up to 20 lbs; reaching outward or above shoulder.
