Staff Accountant

Job Title: Junior General Accountant

Location: 100% Remote (preference for candidates in California or Pacific Time)

Compensation: $28 to $38 per hour

Employment Type: Contract or Temp to Hire

Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday

Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview:
Seeking a motivated, detail oriented Junior General Accountant with 0-3 years of experience to support core accounting functions in a fully remote environment. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, can quickly become independent after initial training, and has strong Excel and general ledger fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities:
Support month end close by preparing and posting journal entries for accruals and prepaids
Perform inventory reconciliations by tying subledgers to the general ledger and resolving variances
Assist with AP and AR functions including posting invoices, processing payments, and recording deposits
Support bank reconciliations by matching transactions to bank activity and investigating discrepancies
Maintain fixed asset schedules and record monthly depreciation
Assist with allowance for doubtful accounts by maintaining schedules and preparing journal entries

Qualifications:
0 to 3 years of accounting or finance experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent hands on GL experience
Proven experience with accruals and reconciliations required

Technical Skills:
Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, SUMIF or SUMIFS, and INDEX or MATCH
Ability to build and refresh pivot tables
Exposure to ERP systems preferred and ability to quickly learn new systems (experience with mid market ERP systems is a plus)

Additional Requirements:
Detail oriented with strong accuracy and organization
Able to follow processes with minimal supervision after training
Strong communication skills in a remote environment and responsive via email and Teams
