Pharmacy Billing Specialist

Job Overview Guardian Pharmacy of Eastern Michigan is hiring a Billing Specialist in Brighton, Michigan. Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. 100% on-site. Pay Range $23 - $24 per hour. Job Description Responsible for processing customer bills and insurance claims accurately and timely, including daily and month‑end billing functions, procedures and reporting. Attributes Required Work Ethic/Integrity Relational Strategy and Planning Problem Solving Team Oriented Essential Job Functions Research patient eligibility coverage with insurance providers and reverify benefit coverage criteria. Maintain and audit patient files and documentation for third‑party audits. Respond to billing customer inquiries via phone or electronic communications. Assist residents or responsible parties with Medicare plan comparisons during enrollment periods. Complete daily census, admissions, discharges, and room changes for assigned facilities. Process patient payments, returns, credits, and credit card payments. Pursue payment from delinquent accounts and make payment arrangements. Organize requested audit documentation timely. Perform prescription claims adjudication, including communication with insurers about rejected claims. Develop knowledge of pharmacy facility billing requirements. Use pharmacy information systems to meet operational and regulatory needs. Rotate through other departments to gain functional knowledge. Follow all government regulations, including HIPAA. Work collaboratively with pharmacy team to meet service goals. Other essential duties may be assigned. Education and Certification High School Diploma or GED required. Pharmacy Technician license/certification per state; National Certification (PTCB) preferred. CPT License preferred. Skills and Qualifications 1+ year related experience. Advanced computer skills; pharmacy information system experience preferred. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Great attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to thrive in fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Quality mindset; motivated to identify errors. Work Environment Noise level low to moderate.
