Sales Order Processor

Our client is looking for a Sales Order Processor to join their team on a temporary basis, with the potential to become full-time. The initial period will be 3-4 months. Must have AS400 experience. Job Function The Order Processor (OP) is responsible for supporting the company’s sales order process and ensuring customer orders and inquiries are handled accurately, efficiently, and professionally. This position acts as an important point of contact between customers, the Sales team, and internal departments to help coordinate orders and ensure customer expectations are consistently met. Essential Functions Receive, review, and enter customer sales orders into the AS400 system through the sales portal or EDI, confirming order details and product availability. Review customer and order information to ensure all required details are accurate and complete, utilizing previously collected information when appropriate. Communicate timely and accurate order updates to customers, including pricing, projected shipment dates, and any potential delays or changes. Create, revise, and maintain item numbers and pricing information within the AS400 system. Complete daily invoicing activities at the close of business. Support the department with month-end closing and related administrative activities. Maintain a strong working knowledge of company product offerings, catalog numbers, and product descriptions. Provide administrative and day-to-day operational assistance to the Order Department Supervisor and other departments as needed. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Job Requirement Required Education and Experience Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. 1–3 years of related office experience, preferably in customer service, sales support, order processing, or operations. Previous order entry experience is required; familiarity with AS/400 or a comparable order management system is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Additional Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and employees at all levels. Excellent phone communication and customer service skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations professionally and remain composed under pressure. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow established processes and procedures. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
