Job Details Job Location: Department of Public Works - Dearborn, MI 48120 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $23.88 - $31.31 Hourly CLASS SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair tasks for assigned areas. Responsibilities may include performing various repairs; preparing for events; and performing general office functions. Supervises Custodians and Building Attendants. TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; coordinating staff training; and supporting personnel procedures. 2. Performs various repair and maintenance tasks, including: repairing switches; replacing lightbulbs; repairing shower handles; cleaning drains; repairing cabinet doors; performing basic electrical and plumbing work, and basic woodworking; and performing related tasks. 3. Prepares for company events, conferences, and related events, including: setting up tables; preparing stages; and performing related tasks. 4. Performs general office functions, including: rating job candidate interviews; scheduling part-time staff; entering requisitions for parts and supplies; and preparing specifications for fire sprinkler and related tests. 5. Cuts, sands, and paints drywall. 6. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings. Qualifications TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree; or two-year technical certificate; or, High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 2 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and/or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) required within six months of hire (for those in this classification assigned to Camp Dearborn or City Aquatics only) KNOWLEDGE: Customer service principles; Building maintenance principles; Blueprint reading; Performing various repairs; Computers and related software; Tools and equipment; Occupational hazards and safe work methods and practices. SKILLS: Performing various repairs; Providing customer service; Using tools and equipment; Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
