Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 31-bed telemetry unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, supported by nurse aides and a shift resource nurse
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Philips telemetry equipment; must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
• Care for a high-acuity patient population including post-pacer, new onset AFib/RVR, stroke, TBI, sepsis, hemodialysis, stepdown from ICU, urology, and oncology patients with cardiac monitoring needs
• Manage patients with complex needs including PEG tubes, pressure injuries, and patients transferring from skilled nursing/long-term care facilities
• Document and manage care using Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing; collaborate with 24/7 on-site pharmacy and respiratory therapy
• Participate in weekend rotation (4 shifts per 4-week schedule) and holiday rotation alongside permanent staff; respond within 30 minutes if placed on standby/call

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Ability and willingness to float to other units as needed, including Med/Surg remote tele, ICU tele/MS holds, and ER holds

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a telemetry, stepdown, or similar acute care setting
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Experience caring for high-acuity, complex patient populations including correctional, oncology, and post-procedural patients
• Comfort working with CPAP/BiPAP patients in coordination with respiratory therapy
