Accounting Specialist

Overview Accounting Specialist Thompson Hospitality Services is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support daily financial operations and ensure accurate cash sales and banking records across multiple units. This role will be responsible for entering and reviewing daily cash sales transactions in NetSuite , reconciling bank activity with cash and credit card receipts, and supporting end-of-period and year-end financial reconciliations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Responsibilities Review, prepare, and enter daily cash sales general ledger entries into NetSuite. Manage and maintain accurate daily cash sales financial transactions for multiple Thompson Hospitality Services units. Reconcile daily bank activity with cash and credit card transactions received from financial institutions. Research and resolve discrepancies between bank deposits, cash sales, and credit card transactions. Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation. Complete end-of-period bank deposit account reconciliations . Support month-end, period-end, and year-end financial close and settlement activities . Monitor cash transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely recording. Assist with identifying and correcting accounting or transaction discrepancies. Utilize NetSuite and Microsoft Excel to analyze, track, reconcile, and report financial information. Work with other accounting and operational teams to obtain supporting documentation and resolve cash-related issues. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in accounting, accounts receivable, cash management, or financial reconciliation preferred. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including general ledger entries, cash transactions, and account reconciliations . Proficiency in Microsoft Excel , including the ability to organize, analyze, and reconcile financial data. Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Great Plains preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and records. Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage daily and period-end deadlines . Ability to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies in financial records. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting, finance, and operational teams.
