The Certified Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians in providing quality care to small companion animals. This multifaceted position involves client education, assisting in medical appointments, monitoring and administering anesthesia, supporting surgical procedures, and operating radiology equipment. The technician also contributes to reception duties and ensures accurate record keeping and equipment sterilization within the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Educate clients on animal care and treatment plans
- Assist veterinarians during appointments and examinations
- Monitor and administer anesthesia safely
- Provide support during surgical procedures
- Operate radiology equipment and process imaging
- Perform reception duties, including scheduling and communication
- Monitor patient status and administer medications as directed
- Maintain accurate medical records using practice management software
- Sterilize and maintain veterinary equipment
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license
- Proficiency in anesthesia administration and monitoring
- Experience with radiology techniques and imaging software
- Skilled in surgical support and patient care
- Strong client communication abilities
- Accurate medical record keeping
- Competent animal handling skills
- Ability to multitask with attention to detail
- Effective problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience in veterinary technology
