Opportunity:

RN - Labor and Delivery

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers will not be accepted
• Level III Perinatal Care experience is required with no exceptions
• Experience providing care for high-risk mothers and newborns required
• Knowledge of placenta accreta, tubal ligation, cerclage, and hysterectomies required
• Must be able to support as secondary nurse for C-section deliveries and circulate in vaginal deliveries
• Perform surgical recovery, care for newborns, manage massive transfusions, and treat pre-eclampsia
• Patient types include high-risk mothers and newborns with approximately 280 deliveries per month
• Patient ratios: 1:1-2 for active labor and 1:3 for antepartum; follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, FHM
• Required skills: fetal monitoring, maternal assessments and interventions, high-risk newborn and mother care post-delivery, cervical exams for labor progression, OB triage, assisting with circulating C-sections, primary nurse for vaginal deliveries, post-partum and L&D recoveries
• Charting system and equipment: EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, fetal monitoring, and epidural pumps
• No set schedules; must be available to work 7 days a week
• Plugged into the schedule where coverage is needed
• Every other weekend required; block and patterned scheduling not guaranteed
• Every other holiday required based on start date
• No on-call responsibilities except for low census situations with potential callback
• May be required to float to postpartum, Women's Care Center, or inpatient women's units; travelers float first
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Free designated parking available

Facility:

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and teaching hospital offering comprehensive women's health services, featuring a Level III NICU, Level III Perinatal Center, and an Accreta Center of Excellence. The facility also holds recognition as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center and maintains 228 beds total with 20 dedicated Labor and Delivery beds. The unit is supported 24/7 by OB anesthesia, certified nurse midwives, OBGYN providers, respiratory therapy, and house supervisors, along with OBGYN residents, family practice physicians, and midwives as part of its teaching hospital structure.
