Details - 8th floor General Surgery unit (K-Tower) in a hospital setting with 44 beds - Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM - 13-week contract - Patient ratio is 1:6 on day shift and 1:7 on night shift; must be able to manage 6–7 patients depending on the shift - Primary patient populations include urology and bowel surgery patients - Procedures performed include TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, urostomies, and various drains (biliary, JP, nephrostomy, urinary catheters, CBI) - Surgical case types include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, bowel resections, urology surgeries, nephrectomies, hysterectomies, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, plastics, podiatry, and oral/maxillary procedures - Heparin drips and IV antibiotics administered on unit - Equipment used includes telemetry monitors, PCA pumps, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, and tube feeding equipment - EMR: Cerner - Floating may be required to other med-surg areas - 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule Requirements - Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand - Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start date) - Telemetry competency required - Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a general surgery or telemetry setting - Experience with urology and bowel surgery patient populations required - US SSN and DOB required for consideration - One professional reference required (two references required if from Florida or Missouri) - No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months Additional Information - Provide post-surgical nursing care to a diverse general surgery patient population - Must be a positive, energetic, and effective communicator with charge nurses, providers, CNAs, and unit secretarists - Scrub dress code: navy blue pants, navy blue or white scrub top; white undershirt permitted if needed; no sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, coats, or jackets - Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position American Traveler Job ID #P-725946.
