Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary The Registered Nurse in the PICU, under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 36-bed unit across 2 locations. We provide family centered, multidisciplinary care for critically ill patients ranging from infancy through young adult. We utilize advanced therapies and equipment to care for patients with rare diseases, post liver and kidney transplants, Level 1 Traumas, and complex medical/surgical cases. Position is for Nights 7PM-7AM. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience 1+ year experience as an RN. Pediatric ICU experience preferred. Broad knowledge of patient care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing. Education/Licensure/Certification Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California and American Heart Association CPR/BLS/PALS certification required. Pay Scale Information USD $104,395.00 - USD $171,506.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
