Learn more about this agency Duties Help If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing administrative support to the United States Attorney (USA) and First Assistant U.S. Attorney (FAUSA) of the Northern District of Indiana. Typical work assignments will include:
- Maintains a confidential relationship with the USA and FAUSA
- Manages and oversees the day-to-day activities of the immediate office of the USA/FAUSA.
- Exercises control over the USA's calendar for all appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences.
- Establishes priorities and arranges, shifts, or cancels appointments and meetings.
- Screens telephone calls and visitors desiring to speak with the USA/FAUSA, exercising independent judgment and discretion to determine the nature, purpose, and urgency of the matter.
- Reads, screens, and controls incoming mail and independently deals with matters addressed to the USA that do not require his/her personal attention.
- Makes travel arrangements for the USA/FAUSA.
- Produces a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced functions in one or more types of office automation software.
- Ensures documents are in the proper format, and that spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar has been verified, and consults with document author to resolve any questionable material.
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
