Lead Quality Inspector

Posted 4 days ago Full Time Less than 10 applies Saint Paul, MN 55128 A medical device client of ours is seeking an experienced Lead Quality Inspector to oversee the day‑to‑day flow of the inspection function while serving as a mentor and technical resource to the Quality Inspection team. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring incoming materials, in‑process products, and finished goods meet quality requirements before release. The ideal candidate brings strong inspection experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical devices, along with a coaching mindset and the ability to prioritize work, delegate responsibilities, and support continuous improvement within the department. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the Inspection Department. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to a team of Quality Control Technicians. Manage inspection priorities and workflow to ensure timely processing of incoming materials and finished products. Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on medical device products and components. Conduct final quality reviews of inspection documentation prior to product release. Verify lot traceability, product identification, labeling, and supporting documentation. Inspect raw materials including pouches, cartons, implant components, and other product materials. Inspect finished goods, including sterile packaged products and instrument tray assemblies. Utilize hand measurement tools such as calipers and other inspection equipment to verify product conformance. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection checklists. Apply Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) standards and accurately identify major and minor defects. Ensure all inspection records are complete, accurate, and compliant with quality system requirements. Qualifications Required Education: Associate degree in a technical, manufacturing, engineering, or related field or Quality inspection certification (ASQ, CQI, CQT, or equivalent) Minimum of 5 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience performing incoming, in-process, and final product inspections. Proficiency using inspection tools such as calipers and other measuring devices. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria. Working knowledge of AQL methodologies, defect classification, and sampling plans. Experience reviewing quality documentation and ensuring compliance with established procedures. Demonstrated ability to organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously.
