Distribution Field TechnicianThis role involves the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. It requires analytical competence to interact with a variety of individuals, including engineers, and to effectively carry out field technical services for electrical distribution systems.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.Maintain production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, reports, and departmental databases.Perform field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, including system inventories, audits, and inspections.Collect field data using electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, and GPS for input into database software.Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.Operate equipment to measure utility poles and mid-span facilities, and perform inspections and maintenance on pad-mount equipment.Communicate effectively in both formal and informal settings, ensuring clear and accurate information sharing with all levels of the organization and with external clients and agencies.Essential SkillsEntry-level position requiring an Associate's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.1+ years of experience in the electric utility or telecommunications field is preferred.Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) is preferred.Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar programs is preferred.Proficient use of engineering software is preferred.Clear and valid driver's license required for travel to surrounding utility territories.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma is required.Associate's degree is preferred.Work EnvironmentThis position primarily involves working outdoors in various field settings. The use of technical equipment for data collection and inspections is required. The role demands adaptability to different weather conditions and terrains.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntersville, NC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
