Lab Technician - Sarasota Treatment Court

Job Overview Department: Court Administration. We are seeking a Lab Technician to support our mission through drug and alcohol testing, client screening, and accurate reporting. The role involves overseeing urinalysis and breathalyzer testing at North County and South County locations, maintaining equipment, and providing written and/or oral reports to the court. Key Responsibilities Monitor and track urine specimens for each client. Conduct urinalysis and breathalyzer testing to monitor abstinence. Perform screening and assessments, collect and analyze samples, and record results. Maintain statistical records and perform data entry and reporting. Stay knowledgeable on lab policies and procedures, and help update them as needed. Maintain equipment and chemical supplies; inventory and order testing supplies. Attend court hearings as necessary. Supply the Court with written and/or oral reports as requested. Schedule / Work Hours Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Schedules may be a combination of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Minimum Qualifications One year of college courses (30 credits) or technical school, OR six months of related experience and/or training, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire. Preferred Qualifications Certification on the program’s urinalysis equipment required within 6 months of hire (company may assist). Bachelor's degree in criminology, toxicology, or another related field. Prior lab experience or experience in a medical field. Clearances & Screening Subject to an extensive background check (CJIS Clearance). Passing a pre‑employment substance screening required. An applicant who fails to pass this test will be disqualified for a period of five (5) years. Physical Demands Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
