Registered Nurse Emergency Room

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) provides skilled nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced acute care environment. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality emergency care. The nurse will float between like units within their skill set and must hold certifications relevant to emergency and critical care nursing. A minimum of one year of experience and proficiency with Epic charting are required.

Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor patient status in the ER setting.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and according to protocols.
Collaborate with physicians, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
Provide emergency nursing care for a diverse patient population including trauma, stroke, and cardiac cases.
Utilize Epic electronic health record system for accurate documentation and charting.
Float between like units within the nurse's skill set as needed to ensure optimal patient care coverage.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in emergency or acute care settings.
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC.
Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working in a Level I stroke and cardiac center or trauma center environment.
Ability to quickly adapt and float between similar units.

Special Considerations:

Floating between like units within skill set is required.
Weekend work required every other weekend.
No on-call responsibilities.
Travel contract ineligible for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility.
Pending nursing license accepted with expectation of quick start.
Return to office (RTO) restrictions are minimal; preference to keep under 7 days.

Scheduling:

Work schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week.
13-week contract assignment.
Block scheduling is not accommodated at this time.
